Well here we are. It’s October 1st. Now that the pumpkins are out we can announce the Autumn season. Our intermittent rain has returned like a comfy blanket, petrichor and all. I hope you are all getting a chance to enjoy some peaceful fall activities with your dear ones, whether they be animals, plants, people or all of the above.
I won’t talk too much about the challenges we are/might be facing as a city. There are plenty of sources for those important topics. I will say this small piece instead.
Inspiration and imagination are as essential as rest and resilience these days. I hope you get a chance to enjoy some art, music and connection, between the challenging times. Portland has grown into a place that repeatedly supports increasing diversity, and I hope we continue in that positive, healthy direction. As a biology major, I like to remind people that purity = death, and diversity (of traits etc.) is what allows any species to exist and thrive. It takes a lot of people to make a city. Wouldn’t it be horrible if everyone were identical?
I hope that the work at Populace can be a place of solace for its diverse patrons. And I hope we are able to move through these times unified, as a community of many kinds of people, who want to make life nice here.
This is the most opinionated piece I have written from the view of Populace. It will not happen often, but I could not stay silent at such a pivotal time. Stay positive, stay together, keep building a nice life when you can, and rest when you need to.
Heavy topics aside, there is not much new to report about Populace Wellness; just a couple of small but important things. A bit of good news. Scheduling availability has increased as my recovery has (happily) continued, so more spots are open each week. I hope to be back at 100% availability by Spring 2026.
Also, a few injury cases are winding down so I have room for at least 2 new ones, which is pretty rare. These are car accident cases, etc. I still don’t accept worker’s comp, unfortunately.
Also, my adjusted income plan (previously names “Low Income Plan”) has 1 new opening this season, so please inquire by text if you’re hoping to sign up for that. As always, it is first come first served.
And finally, to answer some recent questions, yes we still wear a mask in the studio. I always provide a soft, pleated style for anyone that wants a comfier option. This is a simple act kindness to our immunocompromised community, who want access to manual therapies as well. Thanks for understanding.
I think that’s all for the Fall of 2025 newsletter. I hope this season treats you well.
Sincerely,
Dr. Turner LMT DC, pelvic floor rehabist
